Interview: BerryFlow Insider with Jubei Raziel

By May 26, 2014 BlackBerry
jubei_3

Over the long weekend Jubei and I connected via BBM and collaborated on a fireside chat. We discuss some of the concerns he was voicing on his BBM Channel C00076AFA. For those totally out of the loop, Jubei was announced as a new writer on CrackBerry.com¬†at the start of April to much fanfare. He hit the ground running with a string of fantastic editorial outlooks and analysis that drove huge amounts of traffic and engagement within the CrackBerry community. We’re talking over 400 comments+ on his articles.

And then like flash, he disappeared… Even threads within the CB Forums begged the question, “what happened to that Jubei Raziel guy?”

Never fear however, we found him! And he’s here today to share some background on what he’s been up to the month of May. In a 15 minute interview we discuss a broad range of topics well worth a listen. Feel free to sound off in the comments after you give it a listen!

I don’t think Jubei’s silence warrants Kevin massive and repeated defensive responses. Publishing private emails? How unprofessional was that? Jubei remained professional, polite and grateful in his email, interview and responses. Kevin and Adam’s immediate response to his email was unprofessional and childish but then gets a pass? Publishing Jubei’s editorial stats? What was the point? To play down his obvious impact on CrackBerry? This was another immature reaction. If you’re going to post his stats why don’t you post another writers stats in comparison to his Kevin?
I wonder if your recent barrage of posts on CrackBerry is a reflection of your insecurity. Most of these posts were rubbish and “reaching” to boot. Why come here to Berryflow and comment without posting a link to this interview on CrackBerry? Your maneuvers are desperate and everyone is clearly seeing the reality of things.
Jubei isn’t on social media either. He didn’t go on Facebook, twitter or even CrackBerry to express his mild frustration. He made ONE post on his own channel and was trying to remain positive at that. Jubei simply mentioned an opportunity he was going to pursue. Why are you and CrackBerry turning it into something it’s not? He made a decision, communicated that and moved on. Why can’t you live with it and let it go? He doesn’t owe you anything nor answer to you. Why are you dealing with this issue publicly on your own forums and expecting a call from Jubei? I feel embarrassed for you Kevin. You just left everyone with bitter taste in their mouths. Jubei’s silence is to be commended, berryflow does not want an interview with you. #teamblackberry

It is surprisingly that Kevin didn’t bother to include the link to this page in his post :) that is a first for not holding up on journalistic integrity in including sites. Also, nobody on CrackBerry forums was aware about this until this article was posted which begs to ask certain insightful questions. Also, it is interesting how both Kevin and Adam tried to down play Jubei’s contributions by down playing it as one of many and not having time to review the content :)

It is surprising that Kevin talks about Censorship when their site does the same to their readers.

Hope to see some deep insightful contributions from James and Jubei, please don’t drop the momentum and I hope that Mr. Chen is smart enough to recognize such subtle under currents at CrackBerry.

In recent past it is clear that Kevin has moved on, I don’t blame him either, he has business to run and his strategic interest are now focused else where, I personally thought he brought a new voice (yourself) to carry the baton at CrackBerry, but I was sadly mistaken.

I have also found that Kevin seem to know lot more than he likes to share and it also appears to me that he thinks that BlackBerry is at the dead end where he believes his investment is not going to help. So instead CrackBerry is now becoming a cross pollination site which is trying to nudge people to seek alternatives, whether it is his own initiative or it is at the behest of a larger corporate hand is yet to be seen.

Jubei, I think BlackBerry should hire you and James to help communicate the true potential of BlackBerry’s ecosystem. You both are doing a wonderful job.

I will do a disservice if I don’t say this, it was Kevin who really showed me the true insights into the reasons why BlackBerry is built the way it is and, opened my eyes to the amazing contribution that Mike L. made at BlackBerry. I think both Mike L. and Steve Woz. are of the same “breed.”

I feel sorry that Kevin has moved on; you and James have the potential and caliber to fill that void.

Brother, you hit the nail on the head! I haven’t been able to figure out what exactly changed on Crackberry in the last two years, why I was no longer “feeling it” like I used to on their site, why I started reading stuff on other BlackBerry fansites, even downloading other fansite apps to read daily and just now you opened my eyes…you comment about CB becoming a cross-pollination site and slowly nudging others to other platforms is dead-on. I just don’t feel like they are the Champions of the Underdog like they used to be…it seems like they just report the news these days while no longer rooting for the company they once loved as much as we still currently do :-(

    My response here: http://forums.crackberry.com/site-news-feedback-help-f19/what-happened-jubei-raziel-guy-933611/index2.html#post10396948

Blocking it via moderation would be a sad thing on your part, so hopefully this comment will be viewable publicly. Thanks.
