For those Priv hungry secure smartphone lovers here’s a video roundup with all the videos of Priv we’ve seen to date. These videos take you through the software and really highlight the hardware that Priv culminates to deliver a no compromise experience for Android and BlackBerrry fans alike. The device is slated to arrive early next month for around $699 US and rumors have that it will indeed come to all four major U.S carriers. With that said, official word of this remains unclear, but devices running on Telus, Rogers, Verizon and T-Mobile have already been publicly sighted. This suggests both CDMA as well as GSM support.

If you need a reminder of why this device is commanding a $699 price tag:

  • 5.4-inch, 2560 x 1440 resolution AMOLED display (540ppi)
  • 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB storage (expandable to 2TB)
  • 18MP rear camera – 2MP front camera
  • Dual LED flash
  • 3,410mAh battery
  • Dimensions: 147 (184 opened) x 77.2 x 9.4 mm
  • Nano SIM
  • Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

“The elegant smartphone features a dual curved 5.4-inch Quad HD display, QWERTY keyboard, 3,410mAh battery and an awesome Schneider-Kreuznach certified camera lens.”

If this doesn’t get your excited for Priv, I don’t know what will. Sound off in the comments, are you gonna wait and see the official reviews of the device, or are you already sold on purchasing this Android powered secure smartphone from BlackBerry?

It looks like it’s got everything to satisfy everyone but you can’t deny it lacks the intuitive flow of BB10. If the company keep BB10 alive, then I salute this dip into the general consumer market. But if they kill BB10, they’ve lost me. I’m attached to my Z30 too much to exchange it for anything else other than another BB10 device. I’m hanging on to it until I can’t no more.

Just purchased the Priv from Rogers. $259 with 2 year contract. $14 more for 24 months for $336=$595 total purchase price for the PRIV …great deal.
    No contract price $799.
    Contract price makes sense.
It looks like an Awesome Phone. Better than anything out there.

That’s the problem. The priv is a lot of money contract or not for a gamble. I really do understand them using android but a bit confused why they haven’t offered a BB10 variant for those who really don’t want to use android.

  • G-man

Picking up 2 on launch day. Awesome device! By the way, the pricing is in line with Samsung Galaxy and Apple 6splus – but more bang for your buck.

  • Any idea regarding price in Australian dollars and release date?

  • I have passport at the minute, and I’ve ordered my priv from carphone warehouse, can’t wait to get a phone that looks better than the rest, well done Mr Chen keep up the good work, I think blackberry is going to be back on top again very soon.
